Where: Pertini Park
The Arezzo Celtic Festival, now in its ninth edition, will take place from 25 to 27 July at the Pertini Park in Via Giotto. The event, organised by the Cerchio delle Antiche Vie association, offers a historical re-enactment that combines shows, workshops, conferences, gastronomy, and markets, with the aim of reviving ancient traditions and customs of the Celtic, Gaulish, and Roman peoples. The festival was much appreciated and awaited, with around sixty thousand visitors in the 2022 edition, after a two-year hiatus.
The Arezzo Celtic Festival celebrates the Celtic rite of the 'triumph of the sun' and is part of a cycle of events held throughout the year, such as the Beltane Celtic Festival at the end of April and the Celtic New Year Samhain in October at Sorci Castle. During the summer, the event focuses on the reconstruction of historic Celtic, Gaulish and Roman encampments, with around one hundred figures from all over Italy. There will be re-enactments, tournaments and workshops to revive the experience of an encounter with history.
The entertainment programme includes fire performances, Irish dancing, storytelling, juggling and live music with traditional instruments such as harps and bagpipes. There will also be a market with handicraft products and a gastronomic area with ancient and modern specialities. Mauro Melis, president of the Cerchio delle Antiche Vie association, expressed great enthusiasm and preparation for the event, which will take place in Pertini Park, which has now become the 'home' of the Arezzo Celtic Festival.
